What happens when you lose?

Brief notes of discussion looking at what to do, and how to communicate with your supporters, when you don’t achieve your campaign objectives.

Convenor: Patrick Olszowski

Questions we set out to answer

  • How to get permission to do risky things with high possibility of failure
  • How to measure success
  • How to regroup after failure- and sell to your supporters

Some musings
Is important to evaluate what it is that you really want to happen
(what will make the world a better place for your issue?)

Conduct a sober, rational, dispassionate power analysis about who, when and why a change can be made

Be honest if things haven’t worked

After a failure, always give supporters a reason to keep fighting – ask them to do something else (this is outrageous, but we plan to keep fighting, we are still angry….)

Tell compelling, authentic stories – and this will get authentic action.
