Liberate Tate – winning campaigns with creative intervention

Glen Tarman & Kevin Smith

Internationally renowned art collective Liberate Tate just won a major 6 year campaign to end BP’s sponsorship of art museum Tate. As artists they did so through exploring creative intervention, making art and a conscious intent to inspire others in how they work.

What can NGOs, charities and activists learn from these approaches and strategies? Two NGO campaigners who take off their day job hats to be members of Liberate Tate offer their perspectives on making change happen. They’ll tell us how they do this through art and how ‘traditional’ campaigning might be enriched by drawing on some of what Liberate Tate has experimented with to such success as well as the work of others in the arts.

A presentation and dialogue with Glen Tarman and Kevin Smith.
