How film and VR may be used to instigate social change
Speaker: Fabian Vetter, Uni of Westminster
Room: Seminar 2
Building upon the concept study ‘People2People – Film and VR as a Peacebuilding Tool in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict’, which was produced in collaboration with the University of Westminster and the joint Israeli-Palestinian peace organization The Parents Circle Families Forum, this presentation explores how film and VR may be used to instigate social change. Drawing on theoretical insights on identity, empathy and the medium film, the presentation provides a practical example of how to facilitate empathy and enlarge the scope of imagination through film/VR in order to overcome mental as well as physical walls between people.
